Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Harrisburg Choral Society board has decided to suspend rehearsals for the foreseeable future. This was a challenging decision and one that we did not take lightly. We are saddened that this pandemic is preventing us from meeting, but we are hopeful that this is the best decision for the health of all members. Outlined below are more details about specific instances that will hopefully answer some of your questions.
The 125th Anniversary Concert on May 31 will be postponed to the Fall (late September or early October). We are currently checking on availability for venues. In order to keep you singing, we have several ways of staying active so we can be prepared for the fall:
- Dr. Zeuch will be sending a weekly YouTube link to our membership. The video will include an extended warm-up session, some discussion on vocal technique, and some guidance on what to practice that week
- The Society will provide a choraltracks.com subscription for HCS members to utilize during our time apart.
- Dr. Zeuch is also offering one-on-one skype lessons. If you are having issues with a certain section of the music or just want to feel the value of your dues, our director is available for a session.
We are saddened that we have to cancel the HCS Gala Fundraiser this year. Thanks to chairperson Debbi Cowl, for all of her countless hours of work for this event. Due to the timing of the outbreak, we don’t feel that it would garner a profit. We thank everyone for your contributions toward the Silent Auction. The board is confident that our financial standing will be able to take this hit due to the awesome ads campaign this year (thanks to our Ads and Patrons committee and chairperson Al Oesterreich).
The Harrisburg Symphony's "Music in the Key of We" concert on April 4 has also been postponed to the fall. When we hear the make-up date, we will decide if we can and/or should participate.
