Annabel Blyth Wherley is a graduate of Temple University with a degree in Music Education, Cum Laude. While at Temple she studied piano with Lambert Orkis and voice with Klara Myers. Annabel sang with the prestigious Temple University Concert Choir and Lab Chorus. Upon graduating from Temple she continued her choral activities with Mendelssohn Club and Mendelssohn Singers of Philadelphia as well as Singing City Choir. She was a paid soloist at many churches in the Philadelphia area.
Annabel and her husband relocated to York in 1983. Annabel sang with the York Symphony Chorus and Chamber Singers for many years. Solo roles with the York Symphony included Handel's "Messiah", Haydn's "Paukenmesse" and de Falla's "El Amor Brujo". Annabel is a frequent recitalist, specializing in art song of Schubert and Barber.
Since 1999, Annabel has been a paid member of the 32-voice Concert Artists of Baltimore, Maryland's only paid vocal ensemble. Solo roles have included Marcellina from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and Pitti-Sing from Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado". She is a frequent solo quartet singer with Concert Artists and sings in the group's 16-voice "run-out" ensemble regularly. Annabel is a student in the voice studio of Mary Ruzicka Crook.
Annabel and her husband Peter live in a restored home in downtown York with their 3 cats.
