Michael C. Anderson, baritone, is a native of York County, Pennsylvania. Michael holds a bachelor of arts in History cum laude from Dickinson College. After undergraduate studies, Michael earned his Juris Doctorate from the Dickinson School of Law. He is currently employed as corporate counsel with Snyder's of Hanover, Inc., manufacturer of Snyder's of Hanover pretzels and salty snacks.
Despite the rigors of practicing law, Michael continues to pursue his love of performing. He has studied voice with Margaret Leary and Armen Boyajian. Michael has been featured as a soloist with the Amato Opera Company, Harrisburg Opera Association, Theater Harrisburg, Lancaster Opera Company, York Symphony Orchestra, Central Pennsylvania Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, York Oratorio Society, and the Harrisburg Choral Society.
Michael has portrayed many roles of the Opera stage including Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi, Tonio and Silvio in I Pagliacci, Valentine in Faust, Amonasro in Aida, Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera, Escamillo in Carmen, Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana; Count di Luna in Il Trovatore; Enrico in Lucia di Lamermoor; Marcello in La Boheme; Belcore in Elixir of Love; and the Father in Hansel and Gretel. No stranger to oratorio, Michael has performed as the bass soloist in Vaughan-Williams' Sea Symphony and Five Mystical Songs, Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Haydn's Creation, Handel's Messiah, Bach's Magnificat, Durufle's Requiem, Faure's Requiem, Brahms' Requiem, Bach's Weihnachts Oratorium, and Dvorak's Te Deum. Most recently, Michael was honored as the recipient of the Special Judges' Prize for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the Philadelphia District, a regional finalist in the nationwide MacAllister Awards for Opera Singers and as a finalist in the New York Oratorio Society Soloist Competition.
